Sidetracking this thread alil, Panzer general used to not allow an undo if you had been spotted or ran into an ambush. So it meant unless you saved every single movement (not turn) it was more realistic and harder to beat AI (ok, i know they aren't that hard).

Given my work hours and infrequent chances to play, I will probably never get a chance to play against another player, so SP is real important to me. I suspect that is true for many others as well.
