Suggestions for UI Improvement

Post by Morbio »

Having made the same mistake of not moving a unit for a couple of turns now, I realise it would be helpful if the UI could do a few things.

1) Have a counter in the bar at the top of the page that shows the number of your units that have not moved this turn. If this is non-zero then you know you still have a unit to move.
2) Have a button in the bar at the top of the page that could 'ping' all unmoved units - they could then flash either in the main page or in the map view.
3) Have a warning window appear if you are ending the turn and there are still unmoved units. This would have an 'OK' (end anyway) button and a 'Cancel' (I want to continue moving) button.

Obviously, all 3 would be perfect, but any one would be an improvement - particularly for the bigger maps with lots of units.

In the mini map the unmoved units are shown light green, while the moved dark green. So there is something similar to you suggestion #2.
However I would like a warning message like the one described in #3 and I think it's not difficult to be implemented programmatically.

I know about the light green / dark green in the mini map, but it's not sufficiently different in contrast, nor big enough to be really obvious.
