One with lots of Elite LF with Javelins (or a Girlie Skythan army that will run away a lot if that is your bent).

A Heavy Artillery army may work.

Perhaps the slightly more butch Numidians, rather than girlie Skythians. Still LH, but with javelins.

Marc

Sadly no - the LH Javs have to get too close to shoot and are toast if caught. Skythians can shoot and scoot from longer range. LF Javs can stand and take it if the very worst occurs, especially if they have a good commander.

If there were any Elite Firearm LF they would do even better but I can't remember any.

I don't think that the math lets El catch LH, even from javelin range instead of bow range. That's why the Numidians are only slightly more butch than the girly Skythians. "Light horse in comfortable shoes."

I can live with the Numidians being described as Marc's Light Horse in Comfortable Shoes.

Provided that you can keep the LH more than 1 MU away and don't get trapped I agree.

Sadly the best I have found is probably Hellenistic Greek Aitolians. For 480 points you can have 15 BG each of 8 LF Unprot, Undrilled, Jav/Lt Spear, leaving you with 380 points for commanders and filler (MF Prot, Ave, Drill, Off Sp to hide in an ambush and an IC + 2 x FC perhaps). Enjoy the painting Dave.

Well 'proper' nellie armies have lots of archers to help the nellies out so I am not convinced that light foot javelin are the way to go.

Lots of spearmen ? The less armour the better.

That would work but not much armour is a problem against all the bow ;)

Last night my elephants and heavy chariots made a real mess of a load of Immortals :D

After looking through the lists and factors, I have come to the same conclusion as Richard.

So they designed their army just waiting for the return of Hannibal. How disappointed they must have been when he never showed up.

Swiss are bad news indeed. I also find Arab Conquest to be rather unpalatable for my Ghaznavids. Depending on the amount of fire power the Nellie Army gets Picts could be ugly as well.

Hi,

My Wei Warring States Chinese have beaten classical Indians on several occassions. Mixed HW/CB have proved to work when they target elephants even if they are medium infantry. However this may also be a reflection on the difficulty in using classical Indians as set out in the army lists.
