Have you ever considered a career in script writing for Grade B sci-fi potboilers? I detect a true missed calling if you haven't.

ianiow wrote:-The Colossus of Rhodes- Gigantic statue of the sun god Helios, standing proudly astride the entrance to the harbour city of the Greek island of Rhodes. 70 cubits high, gleaming bronze in the sun. Considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

A travelling sailor from Texas glazes up at the majestic statue. Tilting his ten gallon hat to shade his eyes from the blazing mediterranean sun, he announces, "Nice little figurine you have there buddy. You should come and see the bigger one we have back in Texas..."

Meanwhile, Ianhotep I (The Undying One) sits in his sarcoph....err on his throne, glazing into the seeing stone and muses about the phrase "Everything is bigger in Texas", perhaps this applies to their treasury too..

"Prepare the Pirat...err Royal fleet", we sail to war!

Mwuhahahahaha. MwUhahahahahaaaaa

(Rhodes attacks Texas)
The vile villans of Rhodes have disturbed our tranquil peace and deserve to parish in the flames of the west Texas sun. Once my troops have finished their pre-battle meal of jalapenos and tequila, we will meet you in Lubbock, where the Texas Tech Red Raiders and their new coach will make up the core of our soon to be victorius army. And everything is bigger in Texas, just ask the ladies.

From the Empire of Rhome -

The vile vermin who call themselves Rhodeos (or maybe they don't, who cares?) have dared to make war on our allies the Texans.

Well, as the famous quote goes 'All Rhodes lead to Rhome' (or something like that)

As we all know 'my friend's enemies are also my friends', friends' enemies ...' er, no, ' ... my enemies' friends are my ...' NEVER MIND (I was never good with quotes anyway, quotes are for pansies, who don't like playing with razor sharp swords!)

We declare war on Rhodes!

and we also declare war on Morbopolis! - why? Because somebody once told me that they weren't to be trusted (and they are probably pansies as well!)

Maximvs the soon to be Great

hmmm seems I missed the midnight deadline as my great horde of offspring and my harem were occupied yesterday paying tribute to the hairy rodent who brings delicacies of the Gods in the shapes of eggs, thus keeping me from reading the necessary scrolls that keep arriving.
Is it possible to declare war still, or must I wait until summer??
I will have to have a word with the priests to be certain that I will not inadvertently peeve off the gods if I attempt to declare war after it has been deifically sanctioned as a time of peace.

I am sending out the royal cartographers to report back exactly what the locals are referring to their lands as.
Congratulations to Blathergut on a quick and successful campaign.

You can make a DoW any time - the deadline was for the Diplomacy & then only for formal binding alliances.

Dispatch riders from the northern frontiers have ridden in haste to report a victory for the Senate over the heathen Nervii at the bloody battle of the Accursed River.
Of the 61,020 brave Romans engaged, 16,557 have fallen, of the 83,060 Gaulic warriors 24,173. Only the great God knows how many might survive their wounds to see another day..

We salute our hero of the day, Pachidermus Max, who finally succumbed to his wounds after shattering formation after formation of fierce tribesman. May his mighty trunk continue to trumpet in the great beyond.

Rome patiently awaits The Nervii to decide if honour has been served and what road our two nations will take...

WAR

Post by Scarz »

Please let it be known that our brave unwashed Texan masses have been sent out in counter invasion of evil Rhodes.

We also declare war on Morbopolis, as our allies the Rhoman's and Egyptians are also at war with them.

Well since I can declare...

Our mighty God has spoken to the priests who have relayed his holy words upon me and we thus must do his bidding. he has found that one of the emperors is noted for rabid behavior towards his neighbors and that he is also a very poor dresser, insisting on remaining in last years furs. This has angered our god and he has ordered that my armies must at once invade the lands of the Panthers, so that we may wipe out the fashion flaws of his empire and curb his rabid tendencies.
Pantherboy we send forth the wet soppy papyrus may the ink of war run as quickly as the blood of your troops.

As a favour to our Ptolemeic friends, we hereby let it b known that our great and all knowing god has frowned upon the forces of Kappadokia, for our god had favored the Ptolemies and your actions of declaring war against them and then accusing them of cowardice has angered the almighty and omnipotent one. We therefore toss the wet soggy papyrus at you but only after having used it to wipe our bottoms since you appear to enjoy such things as you claim it makes you tougher.... I think your empire needs a new and more mentally stable leader.. so consider this a declaration of holy war against you, your people and your odd choice of foodstuffs. :!:
