TERRAIN CHOICE AND PLACEMENT

Post by donm »

Before the terrain selection table on page 23 it talks about a minimum number of terrain pieces (number in brackets). On page 24 it talks about the defender having two pieces of compulsory terrain. Are these both the same thing? If so should you not use the same 'term' in both places or qualify that the minimum number is compulsory to the defender to avoid confusion?

Good spot Don. Indeed the minimum - being 2 per territory - is in fact the same thing as the compulsories for the defender and we should tighten the words. We'll fix for future vs.

Thanks

I notice under 'MELEE POAs' and 'SHOOTING POAs' reference to being behind stone fortifications and TFs, but I can not find a definition for these.

There is no points listing for TFs.

Do hedges provide cover to certain troops? Possibly foot shirmishers?

Do war wagons provide cover to the missle troops in them?

Definition yet to be added to the glossary. We haven't tried these out yet. Perhaps best to focus on core bits of the rule at first but by the same measure if you want to give TFs a try feel free.

Presently these reduce visibility and they give you a POA + when defending them (see the POA table).
Do war wagons provide cover to the missle troops in them?
War wagong specifics are on our to do list. So no formal answer yet. As informal thoughts for discussion.....I have tried them in a few games and treated them as providing cover to the troops inside - so you can have poor war wagons with some Indian Peasant Bows in them or rather better ones with Hussites in. So the idea may be to make them just a mobile fortification with an element inside and its the element inside that fights? What do you think of the idea? Any other thoughts to throw in as we deal with them?

Look forward to hearing about your first game as and when you get the chance. I am playing Saturday.

Cheers

Unfortunately my first game is a few days off. I shall be working with Steve and he is a few days behide me in recieving all the info. I am seeing him tonight and can assure you arranging our first game is top of my list. Because of the delay I have been reading each section slowly and looking in detail at factors etc. I also did not realise that the rules are still very young.

I think having different types of wagons based on the class of troops in them and the protection the wagon offers would be best. May be you should consider how many were actually used in the 'Hussite way' and how many were just an obstruction. Will give them a try in my German army.
