Tuaregs

Post by Irmin »

Looking at bringing my DBM Tuaregs out of hibernation and came up with the following list:

4 x TC
2 x 6 LF, Unp, Poor, Undr, Jav, LSp
3 x 6 MF, Prot, Ave, Undr, ImpFt, Swd
9 x 4 Cm, Prot, Sup, Undr, Lncr, Swd

The army list allows cavalry as well as camelry, what advantage is there in taking cavalry in preference to the humped beasts?

Also, my DBM army had foot and camels mixed on the bases (similar to Bushi in the samurai lists), although the lists don't allow that can you see any reason not to use them with both inf and mtd on a mtd base?

I looked at the Cv as a cheaper support to the Cm. I think you need an IC with them to help against ct's from shooting hits, unless you are going to run the Cm in a single line they get hit on 3s.

Cavalry interspersed with Camels would be cheaper. I can't see anyone objecting to foot figures on the camel bases, as long as the base dimensions are right. Agree that IC and 2TCs might be the way to go with this lot because of shooting. Also I'd be tempted to have at least one larger group of foot warriors as you might need something that will at least helod up for a while on the flank of the camels.

So something like this:

1 TC
2 x TC
2 x 6 LF, Unp, Poor, Undr, Jav, LSp
2 x 6 MF, Prot, Ave, Undr, ImpFt, Swd
1 x 10 MF, Prot, Ave, Undr, ImpFt, Swd
5 x 4 Cm, Prot, Sup, Undr, Lncr, Swd
4 x 4 Cav, Prot, Sup, Undr, Lncr, Swd

That's dead on 800pts.

Becarefull of Cav and Cm: they are schoock and protected. So big problems in particularly with shooting troops (receive shooting at 3 if in 2 ranks)

I'm doing a Tuareg army as well. One point to remember is that Camels disrupt horses - any horses not just the enemy's. So if you have your own Cavelry anywhere near your Camel they will also go down a level in combat.

I'm not going for the Cav at all

My list is tentatively:

1xIC
3xTC
7x4 Camelry Pr, Sup, Undr, Lnc/Sw
1x8 Imrad MF, Pr, Av, Undr, Imp/Sw
2x10 Imrad MF, Pr, Av. Undr, Imp/Sw
2x6 Iklan LF, Unpr, Poor, Undr, Jav/LSp

Camels in one line - tulwars raised and Charge!

It's actually a little more subtle than that. Camels only disorder cavalry within 1 base width, so if you have one of each next to each other like this:

A1A2B1B2, where A1A2 is 2 bases of Cavalry and B1B2 is 2 bases of camels, only A2 is disordered and likely to lose dice, while any enemy cavalry fighting A2B1B2 will be disordered and losing dice. Given that, under normal circumstances, A and B will be 2 ranks deep, only 2 bases will be subject to Disorder and therefore no dice will be lost. On the enemy side, six bases (or 3 of Knights) could be affected, losing 2 dice.
