Dear Ironclad and Grey Mouser -- I really appreciate your help.
But it really isn't working the way it should, IMHO.
Yes, I can get a drop-down menu under the Images button in
the Scenario Designer. What happens is that those images are
stored in folders that don't match the army I want to use.
For example, there is no Illyrian image folder or any Illyrian
units on the right in the unit list. Gray Mouser, if there is a way
to access a menu that holds RoR army units in the Scenario
Designer, could you tell me how to invoke it?
I see that armies are collections of images and statistics.
Let's take a new RoR army, Illyrian, as an example
What I have discovered, by digging thru 1060-illyrian.xml, is
that all the Illyrian images are just taken from other army
folders. So, yes I can sit down with a piece of paper and
get the right image to show up in the Scenario Designer.
But I feel the Scenario Designer should have
direct support
for the Illyrian army -- not have me decode it.
The bigger problem comes from making sure that the army
unit statistics match. Here's another example. Suppose I
want to build a scenario with Pontic (late) Chalybes. I look
up the 1132-pontic.xml file and see the image is tagged to
misc-MF-cappadocian-foot-a in the "other" folder. Fine.
But, the unit stats for the Cappadocian MF are different that
the stats for the Pontic (late) Chalybes! For example, the
armour code for the Cappadocian MF is "3", but the Chalybes
armour code is "4". The impact weapon and the melee
weapon codes don't match either.
Brigz, I agree with you 100%. Right now it looks like you
have to print out the unit xml, and use it to construct a unit
bit-by-bit -- checking all the stats. And, then, do it all over
again for the next (identical) unit you want to create.
Dear Slitherine, is anyone there reading this?
Have I got it wrong? Is there some special key combo
that will give us direct access to RoR units in the Scenario
Designer? Right now it looks like the Scenario Designer
only provides indirect support for the expansions. We are
talking about the Scenario Designer incorporating the xml
files found in the .\armies\rise-of-rome folder. Can this
be fixed in a patch?
