Hey,
I used to play Legion a lot a couple of years back, and always find myself coming back to it, for nostalgia!
My question, I know you can tweak the games settings in tweaks.txt (and user.txt?) but what I am not sure of is when the changes take effect.
If I mod the file, then start a new campaign, the changes should be in place right?
And one other thing, is there anywhere online that would tell me what I need to get a specific unit? Such as you need x,y,z to get a ?
When tweaking settings..

Glad you are enjoying it
It depends what you are changing - some files are loaded when you first run the game, others are loaded when you run a scenario. To be sure to have your changes take effect you'd need to exit the game completely.
There is a website for legion at www.slitherine.com/Legion/ which has details abotu units and buildings. The manual also states what is required for each unit.

Now, a more technical issue.
I just installed Legion onto my Laptop (XP SP2, 1.9Ghz, 512 ram) and I can run the application, however when I choose the force/area I want and click Start Game (or whatever the button's text is) the whole application freezers/crashes.
So, I done a cold reboot, and when I booted back up, my Resolution had changed from 1024/768 to 800/640.
And, my screen has a black left and right border around, it's hard to explain.
Any ideas how to get the game to run? And to remove this black margin on either side of my screen?!

When I say "force/area" I mean the area of the map that I choose.
Heres the steps I take
1) Run application
2) Skip introduction
3) Click New Game
4) Choose Conquest Of Britain
5) Choose an area (lets say, the Brigantes)
6) Click Start Game
7) The screen either freezes on the screen where I choose which area, or it goes black and freezes. I have to Alt+F4 the window if I am lucky, if not, I have to reboot.
I made a couple of changes, to tweaks.txt and squads.txt, just making peasents more formidable.
Any ideas? I just reinstalled so I might get back to you
BTW I have installed it and I am about to run it without changing any settings.

It sounds like some of the values you changed broke the file. Always keep a back up and change things slowly so you can work out what broke it. Then you can go back and fix it if it crashes.
We're not able to offer support after you've modded the data as
1) Its impossible to know what you did or how to fix it
2) We simply dont have time unfortunately
