Kinking

Post by hazelbark »

the search function seems out on my browser.

So. Kinking columns. Isn't there something about a column not needing to be kept kinked? I can't seem to find it only the bit about columns remain kinked where they start to wheel.

A kinked column stays kinked until the rear base passes the point of wheel.

Agreed, except no one plays it that way.

However, there is language in the reform section that may indicate all kinked columns revert to regular columns at the beginning of a players movement - and not just the active players movement...

Still, most players skip this step and just reform their columns once the lead element gets to its destination.

MAdcam correct.

I thought I remember seeing something somewhere more than just that's how its played, but as an author's opinion or such.

Read page 23. A column is a normal formation. It must kink at points it has wheeled. Reforming is only allowed to battlegroups which have lost formation integrity due to combat or a compulsary move. Otherwise I could "reform" a kinked column in any direction one of my bases was facing. I don't think this is what the rules authors had in mind.
