I applaud the effort so far, but one of the more irritating things to me anyway, is the DAG free deployment. In the scenarios, the deployment is fairly organized. In Free deployment,it literally seems to my neophyte eye that the pieces were just thrown randomly on the map and is very confusing. I have units scattered everywhere, no rhyme or reason I can see.
I would rather it organize my units in a side bar (3 archers, 2 slingers, etc.) or just organize them by type on the bottom of the map. It takes forever (ok, too long) to orgranize the units in subsections so I can figure out what I need where.
Alos apparently there is a limit in deployment of skimmerishers. I had some bowmen I could not move forward. What are the parameters of this limit?
Thank you for your time.

+1! Its very annoying.Mercutio wrote:I applaud the effort so far, but one of the more irritating things to me anyway, is the DAG free deployment. In the scenarios, the deployment is fairly organized. They are scattered around and usually in hexes you need to use to deploy your battleline, so you have to first remove the scattered BG and then deploy them in some order.
Lining them all at the map border (preferably sorted by BG type) would be much more convenient.
But the worst of this DAG deployment scatter is that ithe AI, he also gets his units scattered around without any sense and the AI don't redeploy, so the battle will start with all their troops in an awful disorder.
The AI is already weak enough to sabotage him disordering his troops in the setup
Giving the AI a basic battle battleline setup order will improve his performance.

There is organziation, however the human just does it much better of course.
The pattern I notice, at least in 400 point battles , is that the ai appears to build 3 "brigades" if you will, of combined armed troops. IE a couple of pikes some mediums and lights and a cavalry unit or so.
Overall the ai has a good balance in overall troops but when they are deployed in 3 mini armies, it is very easy to overwhelm each one in detail... also the ai seems to have a problem with these scattered brigades as it seems to want to move lights then heavies then cavalry etc, when they are spread out like that it really seems it gives the ai trouble.
In larger battles i feel the ai deploys much better, ie a large center of pikes clearly defined cavalry on the wings etc..if playing a Hellenistic army
