Germany attacking Switzerland

Post by gchristie »

Hello,

New to the game, and to this forum. I like the game very much. Am playing the Grand Strategy Expansion Upgraded to v1.02 to get the hang of the game mechanics before diving into PBEM.

One thing I've noticed is that the Axis AI seems to be drawn to DOW Switzerland before France falls and gets side tracked there making for a weaker attack on France and setting the German timetable back significantly. It has done so the last four times I've played a game.

Is this a common experience against the Axis AI and if so is there a relatively simple way that an inexperienced modder can modify the game so that Germany avoids Switzerland?

I'd post this in the modder's corner but it looks relatively inactive.

Regards.

My advice to you is to just dive into playing PBEM.

Especially if you want to play allies. If you want to play Axis, then warm-up by playing the Allied AI at a harder level. At least it will teach you some of the mechanics of the game. Before you jump into PBEM, read all the new AARs (i.e. with postings in 2010) at least. It will give you an idea of some of the defintie no-no's, like not having UK troops in Vichy territories when Paris falls. There's no point re-inventing the wheel.

The AI is useless at Axis. Even at Max difficulty levels, it's not a useful game, but it can be fun to play against the Allied AI. Like you I havn't got onto PBEM yet, since there are still some things that I'd like to try out against the AI. However drop me a line when you're ready, and we can have a game , timhicks@btopenworld.com
