I was just wondering if they did not have to take the extra -1 since they were elephants.

Elephant vs Elephant
we had a situation in our last game where my elephants faced off against a unit of Roman heavies who were being supported by their own Numidian elephants as an overlap. Eventually my elephants were forced to take a CT for losing a combat. Since they lost a combat against an elephant, we took the -1 for losing against elephant on the CT. Just seems kind of odd that elephants would be affected by elephants but could not find any exceptions in the rule book.

The rules were designed to be as simple as would be consistent with a reasonable simulation.
Lots of additional modifiers and exceptions to modifiers could have been added if we wanted to improve the "realism" (arguable) of the simulation at the expense of complicating game-play.
This is one of the exceptions that did not make the cut. (As was the one for African elephants facing Indian elephants).
Elephant on elephant situations do not occur often enough to justify the extra complication. (Except perhaps in elephant porn movies, if they exist).

Re: Elephant vs Elephant
I think that a winning excited elephant can terrorize also other elephants. Doesn't matter who you aredeadtorius wrote:we had a situation in our last game where my elephants faced off against a unit of Roman heavies who were being supported by their own Numidian elephants as an overlap.
