What am I doing wrong?

Post by joakler »

I just got the game and it first looked like a game I would love, but I am unable to build armies outside of my cities. When I start to build units outside my city all of my resources are gone within a season! Then my armies melt away to nothing in just a few turns. I notice that the AI controlled armies can stay out of their cities without losing men or resources. I am no General, but I do play other strategy games and do well. With Legion Gold, I have to wait untill I have maxed out my resources and have full garisons in my cities before I can even begin to make an army to attack with. And even then I lose all my resources! Ihave to race my army to an AI city and pray I still have half my army left to attack with, which is never enough to take any city with. In the short time I've had the game I have tried several different buiding strategies but it always ends up the same way. I have thoughly read the game manual, been playing on easy and I have tried using different races and campaigns with the same results. Please advise me on what I am doing wrong because, Like I stated before it appears to be good game and I don't want to give up on it yet. Thanks.

Hi and welcome,

I haven't played for a while but i am very familiar with Legion (so excuse me if i forget something).

- Troops outside the city consume more supplies than when they are within a city. When created, units will appear outside the city so you have to bring them inside the city as long as you don't want to send them on an attack.

- Make sure that your cities produce enough food. Improve food industry.

- It's better to start your campaign with small armies (need less supply) and then increase their size when you have more production.

- If your city produces a lot of wood, you can sell it and buy food on the market or trade with other Empires.

- Cities have different bonuses, check this. Some have naturally a better production of food, stones etc...use this.

That's all for now...don't hesitate to ask.

Cheers
