WOW!!! Rise of Rome is beyond expectations!
I just finished installing Rise of Rome and I am astounded! I didn't think it was possible but you guys at Slitherine have outdone yourselves. It's like a band new game. I am especially please with the very crisp and easier to see graphics.
I never thought I'd say it, but thanks for letting me spend my money on such a fine product. I can only imagine what this game will become as more expansion packs are released. It is truely the "Game of Games" for me. If this doesn't win Wargame of the Year I don't know what would.
Thanks again Slitherine! A very much deserved "WELL DONE!"

I just realized in the euphoria of my original posting of this thread, that I neglected to mention HexWar. So THANKS to the people at HexWar for all the excellent work you have done. You deserve a WELL DONE also. And thanks to all those involved with the development and production of this game. This game is a dream come true for me.

No fortifications yet, either; at least not in the scenario builder at any rate. I'm very happy with Rise of Rome, and congratulate both Slitherine and Hexwar on a job well done, but I hope they give us everything promised as soon as possible.Retreat_in_shambles wrote:Ah - so LOS is not yet implemented? let me add my congratulations as well. the digital army builder in particular is superb -- easy to use (although i had to change my screen display from 800 down to 1024 to see the very right hand column where you actually buy the units, but after building a few armies, i just backed out, put the resolution back to 800 and all was well)
i especially enjoy being able to fight against the AI-built and controlled armies. They build good sensible armies, and while the AI is not fantastic it is a fun, solid little opponent....a few of the games actually were quite close.
the variety added by the army builder really gives this game long legs, and greatly, greatly enhances the value of the product...very very good bang for the buck and replayability.
i really, truly cannot wait until you guys add in the other books of armies....wow.
from one game designer to another, a big tip of the hat!
(i have had 15 board games published by AH, GMT etc....three still in print....and i am a big miniatures player: FOG got me back into painting in a big way -- i now have over 500 bases of troops in 15mm for the biblical and classical eras -- almost all of which i have painted in the last two years since starting FOG....)
again, i can not praise you enough!
