Field of Glory 1.03 Crashes After Splash Screen

Post by hawkeye147 »

I ordered Field of Glory yesterday and this error occurs every time I try to run the game (with 1.01 and 1.03).

The game installs and registers fine.

After the Osprey / Slitherine / Hexwar splash page I get the following error message :
NullPointerException
1.0.3 2009 12 22
{}
uiplayer.s.AncientsUI.InitComplete2 o uiplayer.s.AncientsUI
Delegate.IM Invoke
uiplayer.s.ThemeImp.Update o uiplayer.s.ThemeImp f8
uiplayer.htk.RefreshThread.Event Run o uiplayer.htk.RefreshThread

I have also installed Rise of Rome 1.1.0.

Again the game crashes after the splash screen although no error message this time.

My system specs :
Vista
Intel Core Duo 2 2.4Ghz
4Gb RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS

Sorry you are having problems.

I'm asking the team to investigate. If we had the info yesterday we could probably have fixed it in this update :(

We'll get back to you as soon as we can.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I think I had a different error yesterday - an Error Code 15.

Looking on the forum it was suggested this was due to a server upgrade so I decided to wait before posting the error.

No problem - can you try reverting to V1.01 and see if you can get the game to run.

I wonder if your core installer was corrupt in some way. It migth be worth redownloading v1.01 from Digital River and seeing if it solves the issue.

I have just re-downloaded v1.01.

Unfortunately I still get the same error with v1.01 and v1.03.

Thanks again for your quick responses.

I'm afraid the team are going to have to look in to this and get back to you. Sorry we could not get you up and running.

hawkeye,

This crash should be fixed in the next version.

But just to be sure, please can you try running version 1.1.0, and post the crash message that results? (The messages you posted so far seem to be from 1.0.1 and 1.0.3.)

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

There is no error message from the game when it crashes with the 1.1.0 version or the Rise of Rome expansion.

It just crashes with a generic Windows crash message "FieldOfGlory.EXE has stopped working"

When version 1.1.0 crashes with the generic Windows crash message, does it do so immediately, or after you've seen the black screen with the three logos?

Also, please can you go to this folder, replacing "USERNAME" with your Windows username:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Slitherine\FieldOfGlory

(You can do that by clicking in the address bar of Windows Explorer, and pasting the address.)

and open the file debug-FieldOfGlory.

Can you then paste the contents of that file here.

Thanks

Problem solved by full Vista Re-install

Post by hawkeye147 »

The crash with 1.1.0 was after the splash screen with the 3 logos.

I'm afraid that I cannot provide the additional information you have requested because I have managed to get the game to work.

Before seeing your message, I decided to do a complete re-install of Vista.

After the re-install, all versions of Field of Glory and Rise of Rome seem to be working correctly.

Thank you for the very prompt assistance.
