pbm with GS mod - game does not start
i have the original game from Anuman Interactive. i upgraded to v 1.12, no problem game is working fine, except some issues while editing the map, but it's another topic.
i installed the GS mod in the original folder (Anuman Interactive\commander - europe at war), installation completes ok, but then the game does not start. any advice?

What are you seeing when you try to run? What messages are you getting?frismax wrote:i have the original game from Anuman Interactive. i upgraded to v 1.12, no problem game is working fine, except some issues while editing the map, but it's another topic.

I uninstalled the GS mod, installed GS expansion and then GS expansion 1.02
when i use the new shortcut, the game starts loading with the first screen shots appearing and then stops and returns to the desktop. if i use a shortcut to 'commander.exe' the game starts, i get the new map but with the old look, i.e. no weather info.
any suggestion?

I'm not following, "installed GS expansion and then GS expansion 1.02". Did you run the GS v1.00 and then the GS v1.02 installer? You only need to run the v1.02 installer. It includes everything you need. If you did run two installer then I'd recommend you uninstall GS and then ONLY install GS v1.02.frismax wrote:I uninstalled the GS mod, installed GS expansion and then GS expansion 1.02

Shut down CEaW - GS, delete all the contents in the folder "CEAW Grand Strategy" located in "My Documents" (i.e., *\My Documents\CEAW Grand Strategy) and restart CEAW - GS.frismax wrote:your interpretation was correct, i had installed v1.0 and 1.02 after; i uninstalled the expansion and reinstalled v1.02 alone.
the game loads until the screen with the main menu appears with mention 'loading game' for a few seconds, and then stops and returns to the desktop.

It is hard to know exactly what has been done so I would suggest you install it all from scratch. I know its a pain but it is the only way to be sure you have the right files. After uninstalling you should delete the entire CEAW folder from program files\slitherine to make sure no files remain that may break your set up.

That's true. We have updated the editor for GS and decided to not distribute it at the moment. If you use the original editor then you will corrupt the map and scenario files.
One reason is that we would get even more support questions if people stay playing with modded versions of GS. Helping people with modded versions is not easy since we don't know what's changed. Not everybody even knows they're changing something to the core game when they download a user mod.
Another reason is that the editor is not very easy to use and that means we would have to document our changes and how to use it properly. That's quite a lot of work and I think we can use our time better on improving GS.
Some changes have to be done in class files and then you have to understand Java.
The general.txt file contains a lot of parameters for the game rules.

Digital River only allow you to download for 2 months after you purchase unless you take the extended downlaod service. You can look up your order details or add extended download at their site www.findmyorder.com
I'd recommend keeping a backup of any installer on a disk somewhere to avoid the need to download again.
