Yes they only disorder the front rank so would be better against knights than those that fight in 2 ranks. could be a role for poor HF and poor camels - rear support and affects the fighting!
Although, aren't camels skirmishers? If that is the case, they would not be able to provide rear support to the HF.

No, they're Camelry. These are not skirmishers

Might be a nice trick to have available for Arab Conquest, after all those superior camels can support the superior spears as well. 40 AP (IIRC) for rear support for a superior BG isn't a bad deal.

Assuming the Lost Scrolls ever make it to our local game store ( yes they are living up to their title ! ) you'll fnd that the LPIA with Bedouin allies can have upyo 20 average camels supporting average HF - LS Sw.

Interesting...would make these much more resistant to charging lancers.

Super knights (4 wide) would go from 80/18hits = 4 4/9s hits to 60/18 = 3 1/3 hits while the foot would stay at 4 hits. So it is enough to make the knights (or super cavalry) go from winning on average to losing on average...

True. I will have to experiment with how to use them. Whether in front of the Cv, so as to get the rear support, or to the side.
