Elephants and support

Post by pyrrhus »

All morale quality being average . What is the largest size BG, (how many stands) an elephant BG can give rear support to? 4 stands or 8 ?. I assumed 4 due to it being two stands but was confused by the elephants count as 4 stands when shot at .Thanks

I don't know someone with that forum ID should not be keeping their elephants to the rear.

It was my evil seleucid enemy , he was trying to support some galatian swordsmen before they were destroyed by my imitation legionarys .My elephants were on the flanks with my cataphracts which is where I love them. I thought it was a good question at the time ,trying to get more use out of them .Glad to here the elephants will be able to do that in the cartage list with the average impact foot bg's .I always deploy my elephants in a second line and move out from there .I am going to print up a explanation of how/what elephants disorder and how that effects my cav their cav etc etc ... everyone looks at you cross eyed when your done (which is laugh ) i just need a workable pyrrhic list I like .

Hmmmm....from memory, didn't Pyrrhus keep his elephants to the rear, until they were needed, and then moved to attack the Roman flank.........

I'm surprised elephants are allowed to give rear support. I wouldn't have thought troops morale would be boosted by having elephants behind them.
