Late Achaemenid Persian v Alexander's finest
I have a game shortly where i will be fielding my venerable LAP army against Alexandrian Macedonian. To be honest i am having trouble coming up with a convincing list or strategy, much of the core of the army seems to be very weak under FoG Can those who are more knowledgeable and experienced suggest an 800 pt list?

Julian Lopez may have a list posted on here somewhere, or even better he may answer. But, do it historically. Take a massive army of Rubbish. Fortunately in FoG this rubbish can be quite manouverable. Delay the pikes, Hypaspists and Companions and mob the rest. You will take casualties, but can afford to take a lot more than him. Once you have overwhelmed his flanks the remainder becomes isolated.
He is a good player and has used this army succesfully.

putting the arg into argumentative, except for the lists I check where there is no argument!

I played my last tournament with LAP, and, although I did not played against Quino´s macedonians, I played against roman, cartaghinian, otoman and seleucid (heavy on cataphracts). I only lost again otomans, but smashed the romans, and managed not that bad against the other two, getting two draws (favourable for me, otherwise.). So, I´m not a very good player, but I found this army very easy to handle. My list is:
1x4 Elite Guard Cav
2 x4 superior armoured/Lt spear/sw Cav
1x4 Average bow/sw protected cav
2x4 Lg spear/javelin LH
3x4 iranian LH Bow (saka with sword, parthian with only bow, and bactrian with L.spear).
2x6 slingers
2x8 drilled protected spear.
1x4 Scythed chariots.
I finally dropped MF takabara (they made me loose that game). Sch are nor very popular, but I just could not imagine a LAP witout them!
Spears in the center, with slingers in front of them. One flank skirmishes with all the shooty cav, and one hits with Sch scorted by javelin LH, and cavalry behind them.
Drilled spears are quite handy and you can take them where you need them. They can face cats or even knights with reasonable cost -efectiveness, while non-shock cavalry can choose their matches properly. Elite guard cavalry can fight against everything. And the skirmishing flank is very flexible and can outmatch enemies shooty cav flanks. Slingers killed three El BG in two games.

We fought a battle last week; Early Persians vs Alexandrian Macedonian. While poor dice-rolling can always affect a game (and it did), we found that the Spara units (and Immortals) supported by some Medizing Greeks, were very hard for the pike to beat. Even Alexander himself, leading his Agema, couldn't beat off the Persian cavalry. All in all ... Just a bad day for Western Culture.
As for LAP; I am still working on getting enough cavalry finished to morph my EAP into their later version. But I would suggest using as many hoplites as you can ... and as many archers as possible. I am looking forward to trying the later Persians against Alex. My guess is that the EAP may be a tougher opponent for them.
