gallic list/ROR - cv/Chariot mins/Maxs.

Post by nigelemsen »

Hi,

I find the bullet points in the gallic army list relating to numbers of Cav/chariots relative to each other a bit confusing.

They appear to say the same thing. you have to have equal amounts of Cv/Chariots. i'm obvoisuly missing something.

i am looking to bring Gallic allies ~341BC.. Therefore how many chariots/cav do I have bring.. Ideally none :)

many thanks
Nigel

Before 250 BC you must have at least as many chariots as cavalry
After 250 BC you must have at least as many cavalry as chariots

The key is at least so before 250BC if you have no cavalry then you could have no chariots BUT..... The ally has a minumum of 4 bases of chariots or cavalry so you have to have 4 bases and before 250 BC as you have to have at least as many chariots as cavalry they have to be chariots.

If you take all the mounted in an ally (i.e. all 8 bases) then you can always have 4 chariots and 4 cavalry, before 250 BC you could instead have 8 chariots and after 250 BC you could have 8 cavalry.

Hope that helps.

four chariots it is, on your say so... but i still dont get it when taking the allies.

The printed word still implies (to me) that when i take the min of 4, it still gives the impression that when you bring the 4 CH you have to bring 4 Cv, and visa versa... The 250BC does not appear to change things... I'll just accept the feedback and leave understanding to greater ones :)

Thanks for your input.. I will make sure I bring 4 chariots in the army an no Cav to go with my Samintes...

Cheers

If it is before 250 then as long as you your chariot bases "at least equal" your cavalry bases you are fine.

4 is at least equal to 0.
