Revealing Ambushes

Post by Carrilho »

Is this posible?

During my last game, when I was moving a Light Horse BG on is second he aproached a Gully with an Ambush Marker on the middle of it, being within the 6 MUs distance I said to my opponent to reveal the ambush, he said that he wasnt obliged since my outside visibility its only 1 MU - Its that true? at this point revealing as I believe hasnt to be with visibility range but only with distance range - then I stationed my BG at 4MU from the marker, outside the gully, and at his turn he revealed it, deploying his troops in a BL where the flank bases ended at 2MUs from my BG and pinning it - the revealead BG must be totally at 4MU from my BG since was the Marker distance or he was free to put only one base over the marker and the rest could be deployed over that distance?

1) The ambush (or dummy) is revealed when you come into visibility range for it, or if the owner chooses to reveal it in his turn. Your opponent was correct here.

2) You only need to place the first base on the marker, you may then freely place the rest as long as the BG is deployed in a legal formation. However, you may not place any base of a revealed ambush closer than the first to any enemy that could see it. As visibility into the gully is 1 MU then as long as the bases remain inside, and you are outside, this seems OK. (P142/143).

But then I would argue that since you could not see him you could not be pinned.

Just for the sake of arguing

But P74, where this is covered, does not mention visibility as a requirement for pinning.

5 minute argument or the full half hour?

I'm not going to pay for the full half hour if you're going to cheat and read the rules

How do you know I'm not arguing in my spare time?
