Hey Richards,

Thats exactly what i am thinking and i believe that PanzerGeneral will capitalise on this in 1942. Now there isnt muh to do, but when the time comes i ill be in dire straights...

I fully expect the 1942 year to be a very important one. The more i think about it, the more i should be on the defensive on te eastern front in 1942 in the hopes of damaging the americans enough...

I have been marshalling force for a middle east campaign that i expect will rage in 1942. 1 Armor, 4 INF for german are on the way, + 2 It INF for now, that was what i could spare...

Turn 39: KESSEL!

Post by supermax »

Ahhhh we finally achieved something of importance last turn by destroying 5 soviet infantry corps and encircling 4 other corps including the HQ just north of Dnepropretrovsk. We also took Stalino and are poised to trounce the southern-middle russian deployment, since i bet that there is not much beyond the river front for the Russians... With all those troops in Finland, the russian intervention in the Middle east and the northern sector where there are russian INf and no real german threat, i tink i can achieve soething big if i can get 1 or 2 turn of clearweather turns.

Oh, this is hard to watch. Part of me wanted to run over to PanzerGeneral's AAR thread and yell at him. "Pull back before it's too late! He's going to encircle you!" But that wouldn't be very sporting, now would it? :)

Absolutely. If the US gets no convoys their paltry production in the 60s is no challlenge at all. Conquest in 42?

Well guys, thanks for the confidence, but when i lookat my oil gage something is going to have to happen... I will have to make a strategic choice.

I think my only option for 1942 is for a go at the USA and static defense in Russia if i dont do that i wont have enough oil. The 2 german TAC and the Italian ones will be railed out of Russia this turn for a transfert during the winter in North america. In the psring 1942 i should have 5 TAC, 4 FTR and some troops. I will also transfer an Armor or 2. This will deplete any offensive capability for the Eastern front in 1942, but anyway i have no option there, Russia is too big to manoeuver while i also burn oil in the USA.

I am worried about the easterm front, but then again i am alreadu producing 150 per turn, so i might eb able to overcome any problems with the REDS.

Turn 40: Trouncing the soviet defenses

Post by supermax »

Another good turns for the Axis.

I destroyed a good 5-6 INF corps and 2 MOT corps, as well as encircling 3 more INF corps.

1 more turn of good weather and panzergen will loose more. I think the sensible solution for him is to continue your pull back, the MUD or bad weather cannot be more than 2-3 turns away. But i am not him and hope he does not do that...

Things are heating up in the MED as 1 german corps lands and 1 IT GAR does the same. Can he replace the losses of these troops with the american revenue ? If so, i like it, less PP for the future defense of America itself. But it is a fair question

Re-estrablishd supply with the 2 corps in Finland.

By the way, i noticed that not 1 partisan appeared on the map since the fall of Ottawa. Since most partisan are UK type units, is it possible that they do not spawn anymore if England is out of the war????
I think it is the case... Worth to check out anyway

Quiet times fall on all fronts, the germans have completed their pullback to winter quarters. Things should heat up into America first. My reinforcements bound for there are on the way, 3 TAC, 1 FTR and 1 ARM. Do i need more? I dunno... I think my air force and regular replacements should be sufficient, there arent enough hexes to deply too large a force anyway.

In the middle East i took Cairo with my tanks and should be in a position to overtake Alexandria or Jerusalem soon. My sea supply should not last long however, Panzer Gen is bombing my DD... Doesnt matter i hope for 1 more turn and then the tank-INf corps will be right on the allies throats.

pzg, why are you leaving so many axis units un-repaired? Is it to preserve experience? Or just lack of pp?

ahhh! Good question... Well i should repair them as the Russian units approaches. There was no rush in doing so as long as the Russian unis arent near, but they are closing in now, i should spend a good 70 pp next turn to tdo so. I will repair them, but not enough PP last turn, i built a figher and repaired the northern troops.

I need to rebuild an airforce if i want to have any mesure of success on the eastern front. Also need more infantry and some tanks. I am done with North American investments, we will win or loose with whats in place.

Now 100% of my revenue will be directed towards Russia and Middle East. This sole fact has been the most difficult thing to manage since the start of the America Plan. I am trying to spend enough on both fronts, but i am swimming in uncharted waters since normally you spend for both fronts in a regular game, but the western part of it is for defense. It a bit puzzling but i think ive managed ok so far.

Turn 43: Severe winter in Russia - WAR IN USA!

Post by supermax »

German and Italian elements cross the Appalachian mountain range into the US of A. The rest of axis forces stay in Canada for now, upgrades and replacement being necessary.

We are finally here gentlemens, the showdown in America on US soil!!!

The war , however, will not go as well in the east, as severe winter just hit the russians steppes and the reds are ppoised for a counter attack. I am not overly worried at this since Panzen has no depth in numbers for now, he produced some fighters, lost lots of units in the summer campaign, 1 TAc and STRAT are in the Med (and surely he deployed troops in Kirkourk and mossul). So h will get some local successes, but nothing else. I have, however, a urgent need to get ready for the next summer.

In the Middle East, Jerusalem has fallen to my great surprise. 1 DD, 1 GAR and 3 INF attacks were enough to destory the garrison there... Guess you can never turst a garrison to do the job. So Axis troops are now in a very good position to launch itself into Irak. I am planning to send 2-3 more corps and a ARM to the theatre

Turn 45: Germany counter-attacks in the midst of Winter!

Post by supermax »

German 88 gun on the Dniepr bank looking out for soviets troops

The Russian front is now again rumbling with the noise of german military power. I could not let the Soviet be on the offensive that long, and most importantly i wanted to show Panzgen that he cannot attack me with impunity this early in the game. 3 Soviet Corps were destroyed last turn, and several others were badly damaged. I created a big bulge in his center which i fullly intend to exploit. We will see how he reacts, but i expect him to bring his tanks corps north to counter the threat. When he does that, i will oblige him with a southern thrust toward Stalino. On the rest of the front we are holding our own, and i dont expect the Russians to be able to muster this kind of offensive power for long.

In the middle East, we finally encountered russians units. I do not understand why Pangen didnt rail any to Jerusalem, but i guess there are not many soviets corps in the area and he prefers to keep them back to defend the ilfields directly. 1 more corps and 1 more tanks should be in the theater next turn. The oilfields should be mine by next summer, unless Pangen commited lots of troops to deend them, in which case it could be to my advantage on the russian front.

Image

In Amerika, the german troops are finally moving, alhough cautiously at first. I cannot see the american troops, but i hope that Panzgen will try to send a lot of them north to protect the ressources. I fully intend to let him take it, because anyway i want to attack him on his right flank and try to outflank all the units in that area. We will see how that goes. The fighter will be in the theater next turn and the 2 german TACS will be in 2 turns. The Italian one is 3 turns away. Once the good weather starts, Pangen will be in for a nice little surprise...

Turn 47: AmeriKa in Flames

Post by supermax »

So... finally offensive operations have started i the USA. The german and italian airforces were pretty agressive on the american planes. My goal is to reduce the us airpower so to get total air superiority. If i dnt have that, i will be obliterated, since i wont be ble to send too much reinforcements. So this got to work. In order to do this, i have ammassed 4 FTR, 5 TAC and 1 STR. 1 more TANK is going to be crossing the Atlantic soon.

So the first turn we did good, lots of damage to ennemy units, but no destruction. Nonetheless, we are in a good direction, the USa dont have a big revenue so in the end we should prevail

Image

In Russia, things are finally quiet. I was able to put a stop to Pangen offensive operations. Thank god for that, i can now concentrate on building some big units. In the las 3 turns i build a FTR, a TAC and a ARM. 1 more FTR and 1 more TAC to go before i re-start the offensive in Russia... My plan will look at lot like plan blue from historic world war 2, i need oil big time!

Image

In the Middle East, i destroyed a persian garrison. I am not confident about the outcome here, since the Russians should bring lots of reinforcements and i suspect that i shall see some americans as well. I will keep pushing, but with no airpower on the theatre i cannot do any miracles.

Turn 48: Axis forces advancing in the northeast

Post by supermax »

Another good turn for the Axis forces. We destroyed 2 tanks and 1 INF, and also took the resources. We also reduced the allied air capacity.

Image

We are on the verge of a major breaktrough in the Middle East.

Image

All is well, and still severe winter in Russia, no rush there, 3 planes in the production queue and more needed before the start of renewed offensive operations against Russia.

Patton would be proud of you.

I like your grab 'em by the nose and kick 'em in the rear style of play.

If you capture all the western allies(UK, Canada and USA) don't you get their base oil production?

No. You get 1/2 of their on-board oil production and 1/2 of their on-board PP production. You do not get any of their base (or off board) oil and PP production.

Hehehe thanks man its a good way of explaining my strategy and my style of play. But how can you grab someone by the nose and then kick him in the rear at the same time? Hahaha, its funny!

Speaking of oil, i do not know what i am going to do with this. Ive produced many more planes (3 in the production queue right now), but i am unsure if i'll be able to use them all or an extended period of time.

I guess it will depend on how much success i can have in the Middle east. I am not optimist, since if Pangen has any strategic sense, he should send all availabe russian forces to that theater.

Or also i seem to have overwhelming success so far in the USA, if this keeps up i might be able to re-concentrate my oil exenditure on the eastern side of the map...

My lack of oil is his only chance for a final victory since it would prevent me from using my overwhelming PP advantage

I'm not familiar with the gs mod map that your playing, but I would have considered landing a tank corps or 2, 2 or 3 turns ago on the Syrian Turkish border supplied by dd or bb to either capture the oil in PanGen left if undefended or cut off from supply his troops blocking your advance on the oil.

That's how I would have tried to grab PanGen by the nose and kick him in the rear in the mideast. Hehehe
