It sounds like something deleted or corrupted a file. There should be an OPTIONS.TXT file in a launcher directory in the game dir.

I wonder if I could use my Microsoft remote help feature to let you see the issue I have in launching the Multiplayer function...

I got it working again...I think there exists some type of conflict not related to the firewall that has to be suppressed to get the Multiplayer function working...

Some virus suites include internet security firewall-type things too. There is a long list of possible culprits
