amphibious assaults in GS

Post by godfather »

need some clarification on amphibious invasions. I play as Germans in the 39 campaign I have 2 amphibious "points" does that mean I can only embark two units without incurring penalties? Furthermore when these units are placed on land, do I still have to wait three turns in order to embark new troops?

The short answer is no. You have transport points and amphibious points. You count the number of transports at sea at the beginning of each turn. Transports in port do NOT count. If the number of transports at sea exceed the number of transport points a country has then that county pays 4 PPs per transport for the first three transports over the limit, 8 PPs per transport over for the next three and so on. If you have rough seas in Central Europe (i.e., mud or snow) then that cost is doubled. As soon as a unit disembarks you get that transport point back immediately to use. However; if a transport is sunk then you get it back at the rate you would get a used amphibious point back (i.e., 3 turns for Germany).

Amphibious points are used when a unit lands (i.e., disembarks) into an enemy controlled hex. If you use up all your points then the next unit costs 35 PPs to land, then 75 PPs, then 105 PPs, etc.

In both cases you are allowed to exceed transport and amphibious limits. However; at the costs stated above.
