Rate the chariot armies

What are, in your opinion, the top five armies in the various lists that must have at least one unit of chariots, and why? Not restricted to book or period, only obligation is required LCh and/or HCh units.

There aren't many armies from outside Softer than Beagles that must have a chariot BG. There are a reasonable number of armies than can have chariots though.

For example I would rate Ancient British as a good chariot army but it has a minimum of 0 despite a maximum of 32.

Ok, it may end up being beagles only, then, though perhaps one or two Chinese or Indian armies have required chariots?

I admit that I am interested in the beagles armies here meself, but did not want to unfairly exclude the other guys who have to have chariots, if they are very good armies I mean.

Is the Neo-Assyrian the best army with required Chariots? If so, which armies fall in closest behind them?

Early Zhou Chinese. A bit of a dark horse IMO.
Why, drilled foot that can be armoured. Let down by no LH. But thats the same for most Chariot armies.

I vote Classic Indian. Drilled chariots are an option, you get MF bows with swords coming out the ying yang and as if that was not enough you can get up to 12 elephants. Don't think you will see that in any other army. The glass battle line if the omens are against the elephants but what a sight that would make.

I doubt a bit it's really the best, but I like the Later Myceneaen. Interesting both in the historical sense and by the list options. If just someone would make proper rail chariots (hint, hint).

Against other armies with compulsory chariots the Zhou could take on any, and have a very good chance of winning. In an open competition not as good as Assyrian but still OK. In Grimoire of MaoZedong they still suffer from being outmanouvered and ignored, but would, IMO, be too good for most armies in Softer than Beagles. But then the Assyrians are too good for most of them as well.

Thanks guys, I am almost set on neo-assyrian as it is handsome, popular, and good, and on top of that with a few more codes morphs into later babs. Best of all Mike has already made them in 28mm so he has good refs -- his own models!

And what's not to love about the King Tiger of chariots?

Only lingering doubt is that it's a chariot army that's not really a chariot army, and my own love for the Hittites. But I can't let the latter get in the way of my need to have the investment earn out.

Well not only do Later Babylonians btut likely a LOT of armies started to look like Assyrians after they stomped over the place.
