Good day to all
and a happy new year
I am thinking of playing in a tournament in Greece (before the IWC) with this list
TAIFA SEVILLE
4x TC
3x 4 LH (JAV/LSP/Avrg/Unprot)
2x 4 CV (Arm/Sup/Lance/Sword/Drill)
1x 4 KN (Arm/Sup/Lance/Sword/Undr)
5x 8 HV foot (Prot/Avg/Def SP/Undr)
1x 6 MF (Prot/Avg/LSP/Undr)
3x 8 LF (Unprot/Poor/Bow/Undr)
1x 8 LF (Unprot/Poor/Sling/Undr)
any comments are good
regards
John

Hard to win with def spear and the armoured kn and a single BG of cav will get outclassed by enemy mounted
My suggestions are:
take the taifa of mercis insteadfor heavily armoured knights
takamulgvars as offensive protected spear
2 groups of defensive spear are plenty to anchor off.

I have played a lot of times with similar lists.
The key is if your Def Spearmen can do their Job, sometimes they fall in teorical good combats for them.
I think is a nice army, but you need to play very well to win, you need that your enemy fails some CT against your shooters and look for the flanks with your cavalry and LH.

I think 40 bases of protected drilled defensive spear are fine - use them a lot with my Akkadians. They block the enemy well and they behave themselves and are cheap. But you do need a strike force to be aggressive with somewhere or the battle plan goes nowhere. With the Akkadians this was 32 drilled superior foot bases of various types. I guess it depends whether 12 bases of armoured lancers is enough of a strike force.
