BG Numbers

Post by guthroth »

Hi

Is it acceptable to have a BG with an odd number of elements to use up points ?

If it says 4-6 can I have 5 ? If so how do you deploy them 3 in the front rank and 2 in the back ?

The short answer is no.

The longer answer is that you can under limited circumstances take BGs of 3 or 9 bases but only where there is a 2/3 of one type, 1/3rd of another type restriction in the army list. See P150 for the full rules.

It is also covered by Appendix I at the back of each list book.

As for deployment the rear rank of a BG can always have less bases than the other ranks - so if an initially 6 base BG loses a base it can legally form up 3 + 2. But you cannot have a 5 base BG to begin with of course :)
