Can I make a plea please for the inclusion of an option in future versions of FoG to show alternative numbers of figures per base?
I know that opinions on figure scale are always very personal, but my only problem with the FoG system is that there seem to be too few figures on the battlefield to represent the masses of men involved in ancient battles. I suspect that this may be derived from the simple logistics of having to paint masses of figures for a tabletop system (I recall the days when 1 figure = 20 men, so that a single cohort would need 20 figures). With the move to an on-screen system, though, that constraint no longer applies.
I'm not suggesting that we go back to the 1:20 figure scale, but perhaps an option to double the number of figures per "base" would give a better overall visual effect?
Thanks
Mike

If you want some really big battles check out the scenario design part of the forums. There are a few games in there that will take you half a day to move your army across the battlefield. As for increasing the number of figures in the PC game icons, if you did that I doubt we could tell what is what. Its pretty crowded now and adding more to the icons will just junk up even more making it harder to see what it is. I am already having problems judging distance to the Indian chariots as the horses stick out into the next hex, making 2 hexes to chuck a javelin look like going into melee with them.
Mind you those chariots look great.

It is unlikely we will change the figure scales as the 6/5/3/2/1 density levels we have allow you to identify the unit types by the unit density and their arrangement as drilled/undrilled.
On the size of some models such as Indian Chariots we have the same problem as the tabletop that some models are just too big for the space they are allocated. We can make the Indian Chariots smaller but then they begin to look like they are manned by midgets and lose their visual impact.

What I Use
I have had the same problem with miniature scale and base size so my fix was to use 20mm plastic and use the 25mm scale bases. Works out great! Could probably do the same thing with 15mm miniatures as well.
