The battle of the infantry mobs!
Oh dear Lord, not another poll!!!
Which army with no mounted would you most like to see made?
Yayoi Japanese -- lots of shooters, also a lot of close combat troops, all irregular and lightly protected
Middle Kingdom Egypt -- about a 50/50 split shooters and fighters, regular
Iroquois -- some heavy foot superior, with lots of bow* swordsmen medium foot and cheap filler
Mochica -- fair number of superior mediums heavy weapon, lots more of the same but average
Tupi -- needs no introduction
Other -- please specify, but no mounted

Surely there are already enough suppliers of suitable figures for Norse Irish? Speaking as one who recycled LMI vikings as Norse Irish instead of rebasing....ethan wrote:Tough one this. Lots of armies that are mostly infantry or have optional mounted that I might do, not so many with NO mounted whatsoever.
A good line of Norse Irish might be nice though

All of them are redheaded stepchildren. A casting or two here or there, most of them very dated and some of them at scale extremes.azrael86 wrote:Surely there are already enough suppliers of suitable figures for Norse Irish? A dedicated range? Only in 28mm that I am aware of, and which shows how it could be done right: http://www.grippingbeast.com/photos/hib_display.jpg

I had to go look these armies up because they are soooo in the forefront of my wish list . . . .
After looking at the lists, I actually liked the Iroquois/Eastern Woodland. My own biased and subjective thoughts on the choices:
Yayoi Japanese - Pretty army. So are the Shang, which will also not sell in any large numbers, because they too are roadkill, but not as bad. The Kofun, which you already make are also quite attractive and are pretty much the same troops types except better, and more striking.
You have already taken the high ground here, IMO.
Middle Kingdom Egypt - A handful will sell, mainly to Egyptologist wargamers. After a series of defeats, people will add chariots to them for NKE. Just about everybody makes Egyptians though . . .
Iroquois - Nice list, within the confines set. Could be very striking looking as well. These could probably be designed so that the common warriors would serve for South Eastern Woodland as well, with a different set of nobles/command. Make nekkid dollies then alter hairstyles etc. to maximize flexibility. I would give this army serious consideration for purchase.
Mochica - Pretty army. Doesn't click with me though. I would much rather have those evil looking Mixtecs in the B&G book.
Tupi - Two lines out there already. They would be a lot of fun to paint, and have a splendid reputation for savage barbarism. Same appeal as the Chichimecs, divided x 3. Again, I think you have already seized the high ground.
Here endeth my unasked for two cents worth of opinion.

A brilliant suggesstion! Preferably with some license taken as to historical accuracy so we can build those comedy "Life of Brian" units. Bunches of superior MF isn't all that bad either.mbsparta wrote:Jewish Revolt ...
A lot of Superior MF ... And heck it's the Christmas season! It's all about Judaea is it not? I wish someone would do 28mm figures for this army.
