I'm having a rather hard time with the game on standard difficulty. Actually just about every battle seems harder than perhaps it possibly could be. I'm thinking it is to do with my army. My problem is that it feels like there is very little information or feedback on what equipment my troops should be using. It's obvious to some extent with spears etc against cavalry but I have no idea what difference the weapons are making in combat beyond vague guesses as to how the game is interpreting them.
The manual doesn't offer much information. Is there anything to help?

The info is all shown when equipping your troops in the tooltips.
Spear weapons are best for defence and good vs cavalry.
Swords are good general purpose weapons
Axes are good at attack, weak at defence, bad vs cavalry.
When you select a weapon it shows you the stats it gives you. Each type of weapon has strengths and weaknesses and it is the combinations with other equipment and skills that is improtant. E.g. If you want the unit to block the enemy cavalry you enmed some sort of spear or pike. If you want the unit to be a missle magnet, give large shields and heavy armour. Equip the troops for the role you want them to perform. Make sure you;re giving skills that the unit can use. E.g. dont give a skill that requires a sword if the unit is equipped with a spear - it will have no effect.
