Undrilled bows overpowered?

Post by Robert241167 »

Hi guys

I'm currently playing a multiplayer as Indians against Macedonians and find the undrilled bows overpowered and not realistic.

Basically my opponent has moved his pike to within 2 hexes of my bowmen. My bowmen have then been able to about turn, move back 2 hexes and then turn about and shoot. If I continue doing this his pike have no chance of catching me until I reach the edge of the map. In this time I have many opportunities to disrupt, fragment and break his pike.

In the TT game only skirmishers could manage this manouver and even then only after a CMT.

Thoughts?

They can be pinned with light foot/horse. No retreating then as your Pikes advance.

undrilled bow should not be able to turn 180 degrees and bugger off, their movement to their rear is actually slower than if they went straight forward. In the PC game bow armed units will automatically turn in the direction they are shooting, so yes the undrilled MF bow can get a free facing change, perhaps that is why Keith took away their swords.
