Medieval French ca. 1429

I am tempted to model this army with Jeanne d'Arc. I am no expert in the period so I am uncertain what it should look like.

This period predates any widespread use of barbutes and sallets does it not? Are the knights still wearing primarily the houndskull bascinets http://therionarms.com/reenact/therionarms_c1078.html , perhaps some of the plain bascinets with aventails http://therionarms.com/reenact/therionarms_c1103.html and perhaps some early barbutes, http://therionarms.com/reenact/therionarms_c1076.html ?

Do they still wear jupons and carry shields? Or is the full plate, sallet helmet and shieldless Gothic armor style dominant?

I would check out the Freezywater books (who also publish Hobilar for the Lance and Longbow society) on Jeanne and the Siege of Orleans. They have plenty of Heraldry for the campaign - 42 french, about 12 English and 6 Burgundians (if memory serves - these are ina box in my garage at the moment so I'm working from memory).

Main problems of this army in various rule sets is a lack of light troops (1 unit of LF Crossbows) and poor terrain troops. This means you can get outmanouvred and picked apart.

I have this army in 25mm using Foundry Knights and a mixture of everything else. Looks pretty but I have never figured out how to use it effectively under any rules.

Thank you for the several heads up. I have never heard of Freezywater books, and will look them up. I noticed the lack of light troops and terrain troops. I figured that if I ran this list I would go with Continental Scots allies, and try to deal with opposition light troops via bowfire.

I would have thought this list would be a fire and forget weapon, but it sounds as if they have the same difficulties the Crusader lists do. Ineffective foot, one dimensional knights. I have always been fond of Jeanne though. She has a magnificent gilded statue in New Orleans, near Jackson Square where executions and military drill used to be performed.
