Confused about combat results

Post by Solaristics »

I'm a bit confused about some of the results in the advanced combat results window. For instance, in "die=6,2,1r6,3, hits=2", what does 1r6 mean? I've seen these XrY results before but are not sure what they are.

Also, I had one situation where I have 4 rolls and so does the defender, and I have one POA, and so does the defender, but my estimated hits are 2.33 and his are 2. Shouldn't they be both 2, i.e. 50% x 4, since the net POA is 0?

I dont think we should be seeing these results in complicated data form. Before the last patch the results were "3 attacks at ++ to the cavalry" etc. Think it might be a bug.

The additional details are an option you can turn on with a keyboard accelerator listed in the help. ('P', I think.)

Just guessing but the "r" may represent a quality re-roll. This mechanism is present in the TTG and I think it is in the computer version as well although it isn't described in the help. Superior troops are able to re-roll any 1's they get (but cannot re-roll the die a second time if it's another 1), Elite troops can re-roll 1's and 2's, and Poor troops must re-roll 6's.

I will get around to reading the rules one day  . Maybe a New Year's resolution?

The r is for re-rolls as already stated. Superior and elite troops can re-roll 1's so that shows the original 1 and the re-rolled die score.
As for the other question is it possible your enemy was superior and with the re-rolls had a better chance of scoring hits due to potential re-rolls.

Thanks for the responses concerning superior and elite units: that explains both problems.
