Read through the AARs and if you're playing the Grand Strategy Expansion read through the strategy and tips section in the manual.

See http://web.me.com/amcdonel/CEaW-GS/Welcome.html for where you can get the latest version of the manual. Also, if you've installed Grand Strategy then you've also installed the manual.

I have played this game PBEM style about 24 times (9 BJR, 15 Vanilla), and only won 3, lost 8 and TIED 13 times. I have done a lot on my own, not a good winning percentage. But I think, I have 'seen the light' so to speak, your strategy guide is great! It has already paid dividends! Right now I am in 5 concurrent GS games, and DM is one of my opponents. He is the best I have played in either BJR, Vanilla, or my current GS games. He took Paris in Feb of 1940. I have NEVER had that happen before. So, DM that guide is a good read, and (I know I'm not saying this) you will become even better in our game.

*Industry should be your first priority.
*September 1939-Early 1940 are the key. Either the Axis gains enough sources of income to top the Soviet economy or it loses.
*Go around fortifications as much as possible.
*Use all of your air power on the enemy units that are furthest front.
*Use partisans to take as many pieces of ground near enemy cities so the enemy cannot deploy there without taking care of the partisans.
*Playing as the Axis conquering France, Sweden (perhaps it's Norway instead with Grand Strategy), Yugoslavia and Spain are key.
*Taking Leningrad and Odessa are difficult.
*If you're playing as the Allies and the Axis have Major Advantage take out its allies first, then Germany.
*Playing against yourself helps.
*Think one move ahead.
*Concentrate superior numbers at the most important points.
*Any advantage or disadvantage can be made the other with ease.
*Read these: http://www.sonshi.com/library.html
*I'm crap at computers so playing me isn't an option. Sorry to my earlier opponents.
In spite of the Final Fantasy character it's pronounced sao-win after the Irish pagan god of death. I'm not a pagan but we're on a wargames website so I thought it fitting.
