Which medieval army is it?

Post by Stiglitz »

Hello,

perhaps I can get the following medieval miniatures, nicely painted.

12 bases of knights
8 bases of light cavalry with crossbows
12 bases of spearmen (tear formed shields)
8 bases of halberdiers
8 bases of crossbowmen foot

At the first look I thougt, hey, there are a couple of medieval armies, I can make with this stuff.

But then I recognized the mounted crossbows as LC which is pretty late in most armies while the spearmen are better in the feudal period...

Do you know an army, which can use all of this stuff?

This sounds like it could be a starter for a number of the Spanish/Portugese armies, either from OOF or SOA depending on the Knights.

Hmm buit difficult to see but the knights have horse bards , armour isnt full plate by any means. Looks circa 1300 ish. Helms look earlier though...

The heraldry looks generic rather than any particular army. So I would say this will do well for Generic West Europe Medieval mish mash

The knights look c. 14th.
The rest could be from the same period, except for the the spears in MF bases, which have earlier shields and helmets.

You could use this for a medieval Crown of Aragon army, since you have knights, LH crossbow, LH javelins, HF spearmen and MF spearmen, although the HF are actually heavy weapon and the MF are not proper almughavars...

Or maybe Navarrese...

Thanks a lot for all the answers...

I don't think, I will buy the minis... :(

the mentioned spanish armies cannot take halberdiers and not 8 crossbow LC.
And the basing of the minis is a bit strange, the HI is based 18mm deep in 6 cases, 15 in the others...

It is still a beautiful painted army. But 150+ Pounds is too much for me to get a "count as" army...

thanks again
