Before I buy, I have a few questions.
1) What scale is the map(s)
2) How much time is a turn
3) Is facing involved
4) If yes to #3, can units move in retro-grade
5) Can a unit fire/attack and then move or move and then fire/attack
Thanks,
Before I Buy?

Maps vary from a small skirmish up to massive battles. 10x10 hexes to 50x50.
A turn represents about half an hour, but the time it takes you to play varies withteh scale of a the scenario though usually around 5-10 mins a turn.
Facing is very important.
Some units can move to their rear - it depends on their training and unit type.
Units move then fire/melee. Once you are in melee you can't leave voluntarily - one side or the other tends to break. If you dont want to fight you must avoid contact e.g. evade.

Just to add a little detail, cavalry will disengage infantry on its own accord. I'm not sure of the rules determining when they do this, so that will have to wait until someone else gets here, but from my observation it works quite well. I haven't had my cavalry disengage from infantry that it is thrashing, but I have had it disengage from heavy infantry that was thrashing it. I have also had it fail to disengage, when I've been incredibly stupid and boxed it in from behind with my own pikes, hehe.iainmcneil wrote: Units move then fire/melee. The table top starter armies are all roughly 600 points, not 650. Not sure what they are in points in the PC version.JayRaider wrote:3 of the game Scenarios contain Starter Armies taken from the FOG tabletop game supplements.
I believe they are 650pts each and then convert to the PC game standards.
Currently the Starter Armies included are:
Rome vs Carthage.
Rome vs Selucides.
Macedonia vs Ancient Indian.
