Where are all the after action reports?
We can see literally thousands of games have been played but there is a real dearth of After Action Reports!
I'd love to see some. Is anyone interested in writing them up? You can take screenshots from in game to illustrate your AAR's.
I'd love to see AAR's posted around here and other sites that discuss wargaming to reach out to new people. Is there anything we can do to help you in this? The game is doing really well but there are still vast segments of the wargaming community who know nothing about it and we need to fix that!

on laptop...
Don't forget!
On laptops there is a
function button (Fn)
and Prt Sc.
"Prt Sc" will share space with something else (letter or number) on one key.
(I searched it for a long time!)

You need to join a pic hosting website like photobucket.CharlesRobinson wrote:How do you post the images onto the forum. I do not see a way to imbed pictures for this forum.
Do a google, u upload them there and then take the Img code and paste it into your forum posts here.

If you tell me what software you used to make videos for youtube i'd be happy to make some AAR's on a regular basis.iainmcneil wrote:Thanks it looks great - I moved it to the main forum for now. If we get a few more going I'll create an AAR forum!
Sometimes it's nice to post AAR's as you go so people can comment on how things are developing. You dont have to wait till the end and post it all on one go though this is also great!
I've tried and failed with:
Fraps.
Webcam max.
Guncam.
Playclaw.

For the videos we captured the raw footage in fraps, then used the free movie maker that comes with XP/Vista to edit the movies and add the text overlays. It was really simple. The voice over was a lot more complex as the sound editing was done in a separate package and synching was a bit of a pain.
Cool i got Fraps to record!iainmcneil wrote:For the videos we captured the raw footage in fraps, then used the free movie maker that comes with XP/Vista to edit the movies and add the text overlays. You can use the vista movie maker to add commentary to your video. I've used it before and its easy.
I'll start recording a game today

Iain, I think the biggest hurdle for creating AAR is the lack of a replay function for multiplayer games. The multiplayer community is large enough for us to play exclusively online, but unless we plan ahead and start recording our AAR from turn 1, there is no way for us to create an AAR, as we can't view past turns to grab screenshots from.
Some of the best battles I've had haven't been interesting until the very end, when it's too late to start an AAR. I recently had a match at Corinth against a good opponent, and I only won it by a single break point (24/24, I was Corinth) after managing to route a cavalry unit by javelin-throw. That would have been an AAR worthy battle, but there is no option to save a replay on my harddrive.
