15mm/25mm competitions in Plymouth - February 2010

25mm ancients at the Plymouth show in February is a tradition; 15mm was introduced last year.
Both went well so we are holding FoG competitions in both scales again at PAW 2010.
Open competition (any army, any book) for both scales. 650 points at 25mm and 800 points at 15mm.
The dates are 6/7 February and regular attendars need to note - NEW Venue.
The Kitto Centre is spacious and has good catering facilities

Following feedback from last year's competitors we want to extend the playing time for FoG this year. So hopefully we will start at least as early as 9:10, maybe 9:00.
This will depend on how early we can get into the venue. The timings listed on the web site will be changed soon to allow for more playing time but we need to speak to the Kitto people first.
Just thought I'd post this, to re-assure the players I have spoken to about allowing more time to finish games this year.

its a toss up between york(40 miles away), plymouth (350miles?) or brussels (on some dodgy continent miles away) on same weekend !! Its cheaper to get to brussels from York than plymouth. How many competitors are likely as it seems a fun place to come if i can overcome logistics etc

Hello Paul - last year we had eight in the 25mm competition and eight in the 15mm.
Most of last year's players have indicated that they will be returning and I know there wilol be some new players so I anticipate between 10 -12 in each. I already have a few lists from the real enthusiasts!
You would be most welcome and remember Plymouth in February will be much warmer than York or Brussels.

Sadly commitments have conspired to prevent me returning in 2010 but the rest of the gang are going.

Certsinly a must on the "'Shows to attend before I die" list; a good mix of participation and demo games with very good Bring & Buy.

apologies but in the end its cheaper and quicker to get to brussels; and the continent sounds more exotic,. so on this occasion am sorry not to be able to attend etc, thanks tho

No to sure about that its £138.10 return Brussels to Manchester by train I'll give you its quicker to go there than Plymouth.

Got it down to £121.00 the best part is leave Brussels at 1 minute to 7pm and arrive manchester half past midnight.

on the other hand leave Plymouth 7pm and arrive manchester 5am Monday morning with a four hour stop off somewhere, strange that.

There are other methods than Train Dave - Flights from Air France direct from Manchester to Brussels. Travelling on the Friday and returning on the Monday. £86.20

Hi Dave & Dave R,
just look on the net @ thetrainline.com Depart Manchester Picc at 18.05 to plymouth arrive Plymouth 23.12 and you do not have to change trains as well £45.00 one way.

Come back Monday Depart Plymouth at 11.50 arrive Manchester Picc at 16.59 and you do not have to change trains again and only £45.00 total = £90.00

Cheers Colin got that but wanted to come back Sunday so quite restricted and that four hour stop off is at Selby I think? I would love to know how it is quicker to travel from Brussels than from Plymouth to Manchester.

Ah only good if you get the 6.23pm but thinking the game finishs after five all to rushed to get to train station via taxi and its the next one that leaves you stuck somewhere for 4 hours getting into manchester monday morning .

The 25mm competition is now full but due to a late entry into the 15mm competition we have an odd number, so can accommodate one more in that.
