The problem is that I really need the proper intelligence here. I need to know whether Dave has a full double line, where his strong units are, if there are any gaps in the second row I can exploit, etc. Is there any way this could be fixed?

Joe, you're correct on this. In fact, I brought this up during our beta testing but a design decision was made to keep this "feature" based on the complexity of having to "reset" the spotting range of units that haven't moved or attacked. This "feature" is to be considered part of the new weather model bad weather effects, which linger into a fair weather turn.joerock22 wrote:I think some of the developers and beta testers noticed this issue before, but I didn't think it was a big deal. The spotting range doesn't reset for weather until you move a unit. So if the previous turn was winter, then all units will have winter spotting ranges in the subsequent clear turn until they move. I now find myself in a situation in my game against Dave where this is really affecting my gameplay. The first screenshot shows that the weather is clear. The second screenshot shows the spotting ranges I am getting. As you can see, they are all incorrect for clear weather.

Your explanation of bad weather lingering a little bit into fair weather actually makes sense to me, now that I think about it. And that's a good idea about the strategic bomber; I will do that.rkr1958 wrote:Joe, you're correct on this. With all that said the tactic I use to "reset" the spotting range after bad weather to fair is to rebase my strategic bomber to within range of where I need to see. I consider this tactic to be the dedicated use of this asset for recon that turn to determine enemy troop locations and strength.
