Suggestion - unit strengths

Post by Sertorius »

Would it be possible in a future patch to have the option to display the actual strength of a unit on the bottom of the graphic? Such as 500, 1000, 876, whatever. I've been playing around with the editor and changing the strengths of units, but you can't tell at a glance how large a unit is and it's overly tedious to roll the mouse over your units, then the enemy units, to see their actual manpower numbers.

It is not technically a huge issue but it would end up looking very cluttered.

Hmmm, a sliding green health bar on each unit might be an idea, but I think the skulls already do a good enough job. So long as the skulls pop up at the same percentages that penalties are taken (like below 75% men for phalanxes), then I reckon they're enough.

We had health bars in the early design and the players overwhelmingly prefered skulls. Also there is detailed info to the lower right by moving over a unit. Keith

The Skulls are also the key points for losing attack. Each skull represents the effect of losing a base in the TT game. Keith

So, does each unit in the PC game represent 4 bases in the miniature game?

Some time during the beta they said that each unit in the PC game is roughly equivalent to 4 stands on the TT. Makes it somewhat harder to transfer your TT games to the PC since 1 pike block on the TT would be 2 units on the PC and they don't have to stay together. Also light battlegroups for most armies are in 6's or 8's, same thing you can put down 2 of them but they don't act as a single unit.
I have played around a bit with trying to do a TT game on the PC but nothing worth playing so far.

What I Use

From what I have seen - it looks more like one PC unit equals 2 TT units. That is what it seems to be working out as when I reconstruct battles. This is especially true when you look at the starter armies and point differences.

I'm fine with the skulls.
It serves it's purpose.
Numbers will just be more confusing.
