Within theme or in open tournament?

If within theme, then the extra points you spend on Tibetan cataphracts will not be well spent, because there are so many HW and crossbows in the theme
I was thinking by theme. Because in open Tibetan is just knight fodder. Yes, there are xB and HW, but mostly standing not very close together....what do you suggest?

Usually not standing very close together? They're usually a backrank.

I'd say Warring States or Kofun-Nara Japanese for Empires :).

RoR
Bosporan
SoA
Santa Claus is coming to town
IF
Bactrian or Alex Mac
S&M
Post Latin Byzantine or Mamluk

Later Ottoman
Decline
Nike
Wolves
Normans or Anglo Danes
Beagles

Some I can't make my mind up and it depends on your style of play. In which case I put my favourite first

Point for point I would say MF protected average drilled longbow - sword are the best foot in the game.

I agree which is why I like Ordonnance French. Drilled Longbow and Drilled Knights, what's not to like.

Nik

What took you so long? 44 minutes to add that, slow by your standards. I had been poised what for just that sort of reply from you.

Ordonnance Burgundian ? Although the answer to the original is obviously - it's too expensive, and how much is drilled worth for Knights? Probably 1 drilled BG is enough, as mostly you are on plan A...

I thought it had been conclusively proved that point-for-point Armoured drilled average Light spear sword are the best foot in the game?

No, Macedonian isn't in Beagles, but that didn't stop it being admitted to a themed tournament, did it?

I have a vague recollection of Phil Powell mentioning something about that... :)

Has anyone tried running WoC armies in any comps? Everyone wants the best army, but how many are bringing their worst? Great Moravian - all average protected DSp. Or some fuedal army with as much poor foot as can fit on the table?
