Evade

Post by david53 »

Sorry cant do picture

1. Enemy battle group of LH 3 bases wide one in rear rank facing to there left.

2. Facing them right up against the bottom half of enemy base is a BG of LH

3. Behind enemy BG is a BG of LH that have charged the enemy BG from the rear.

4. Can the enemy slide that half a base to miss the enemy BG to their front and thus evade the charge from behind.

5. I though you can't slide to miss enemy?

Cheers Hammy Phil

The situation happened first game, I could'nt find it got so got help from outside the game aand was told that as it was a rear attack by my BG he could turn 90 degrees thereby moving out of the BG to their front. I did say he was wrong but that was his descion.

But I know and it will not happen again.

Just to make sure I understand, evaders can slide to avoid enemy in the way of their evade move. Chargers cannot slide to avoid enemy in their charge path when the original charge target evades (but can slide to avoid friends in their way.) Right?

Wrong. A BG can wheel or contract by one base to avoid friend during a charge.

As far as I understand you can never slide to avoide enemy.

Lights and cav that started in a single line and choose to evade can shift up to 1 base width while evading to avoid enemy or terrain that could slow them down etc or they can drop back bases but can't do both.

Before this gets hijacked (any further) by discussions about what chargers can and cannot do - yes you could have slid half a base to evade past the BG to your front to evade from the enemy charging you in the rear.

You would only turn 90 degrees if you were being charged by both BGs from the front and rear. This is becasue you have to split the angle and evade away from the direction of the charging BGs - squirting out between them in that particular example. You do not have the option of evading to your own rear when charged in the rear/flank.
