Hi
I'm trying to buy a ready made army on e bay to get me started and I keep seeing ads along the lines of "based for FoG, DBA or DBM". Would that be right? Was under the impression that these rules all had different basing systems.
Thanks
Basing for different systems

All of these rules (along with Warrior, Armati and many others) use the basing system originally used for the WRG rules (6th and 7th ed specifically). The current major exemptions to this basing system are WAB and to a lesser degree, Impetus. Impetus uses bases that are the size of mutllple WRG base sizes so is easy to play with troops based for WRG (and DBA, DBM/MM, and FoG).

Yes. The main difference in using the army in these different rules will be the amount and types of troops used in each, mostly the former. For less mainstream armies, the mix of troops allowed for the army may differ significantly for the army lists in the different rules so you should check the army list for the rule(s) you will be using to make sure the mix of troops you are buying is correct. The troop basing should not be an issue. As an example, an army advertised as a complete DBA army will not be nearly enough to use as a complete army for FoG or DBM (or DBMM) but the troop basing will be consistent so you could use it as the base for creating a larger army for the other rules.Eques wrote:so in summary if I bought an army based for dba or dbm, would I be ok playing fog with it and are the sellers right to advertise armies "based for fog, dba or dbm?"

Your commanders bases will differ in FOG to that in DBMM but as they are larger a second base can go underneath to play FOG, Generally speaking a 300 point DBMM army will come out around double that in a FOG one. All my Armies (lots) are worked out to both systems and work out fairly well. Some units will be bouble-based in DBMM but this is simply 2 bases stuck together and require no conversion.

Unless, of course, you based them on a double-sized single base (e.g., 40mm x 60mm DBE knights). Then you will want to rebase them for FoG (but can use sabots or connectors to convert them to DBEs for DBM).Spartacus wrote:Your commanders bases will differ in FOG to that in DBMM but as they are larger a second base can go underneath to play FOG, Generally speaking a 300 point DBMM army will come out around double that in a FOG one.
