Caltrops

Hi,

Out of interest I notice that the Warring States Chinese are allowed portable defences which include caltrops. This makes sense but then I noticed that caltrops are treated as field fortifications against mounted but not elephants. Apart from the fact that perhaps caltrops should disorder opponents rather than give a POA I would have thought that they are the ideal defence against elephants. I always understod that Elephants were vunerable when faced by difficult terrain ie metal spikes.

Maybe the elephants have uber tough soles on their feet and the spikes don't bother them? Running elephants that is the least I could hope for.
