28mm LATER OTTOMAN TURKISH

Post by danikine74 »

Well i want to re-build and paint a 28mmm later ottoman turk. I m about to choose some from the Assault group turks and some from the Old Glory ranges. Seems that the old glory ones are worth because of their lower prices, but what about his quality???

The assault group does not have XV C, turks...

Do you have any suggestions?? may be other manufacturers??

Thanks

Most of my 25mm figures are Old Glory. Old Glory is acceptable quality IMO, but not first rate. They paint up well, have a decent variety of poses within packs, and are affordable. The drawbacks are that some of the poses are unlikely, and every once in a while there are odd proportions, spindly weapons, and minor pitting on large surface areas such as shields. The worst problem is inconsistent mold alignments and a LOT of flashing that needs to be cleaned up.

Despite these criticisms, I am a satisfied customer, due to their pricing and variety. You will have to spend more time preparing Old Glory castings compared to Front Rank, Essex, or Crusader for example, but if you do clean them up well and paint them well the Old Glory units look just fine.

The bottom line is that if you are a US consumer, OG comes in at 50% - 20% the cost of various UK lines, given the weakening dollar and nightmarish international shipping charges. This makes a huge difference on whether an army is even feasible to build.
IMO, this more than offsets the modest difference in quality from UK, Italian and German manufacturers.

Maybe you should take a look in La Flecha Negra.

http://www.laflechanegraminiaturas.com/

They work with the whole rank of Old Glory and they have discounted prices because of the low change rate dollar euro. Another option is taking a look at this website:

www.warweb.com

They have the best prices I have ever found but you have to take into account that you will have to pay 16% of TVA when receiving that in Spain. Anyway, given the price of the dollar it is worth it. I can assure you! I have bought many 15mm Command Decision Miniatures there!
