1942 No Oil Blues !

Post by Blathergut »

Was in the summer of '42
I was tryin' to annihilate you,
but there's nothin' I can doooOoOOOooooo...
Gots no oil....'42 bluuuuuuuuoOOoOOOoes!

Not sure how I ran out, although my opponent-who-shall-not-be-named had allied air comin' out of his yingyang! I only ever had 6 armour units, 3 tac bombers, ummm 4 or 5 fighters...but I think it was probably a case of that stuff, even though not great in quantity, was probably attacking just about every turn...

Personally as the unnamed opponent I am glad you are short on oil, last time I looked I had 999 per ally. 1942 summer invasion of France, it was wide open accoarding to airial recon so I decided it seemed like a good time to go. Now the Americans are shipping from America straight to France. Think I need a Brit commander there, my troops are not to pleased about being in France for some reason.

I count that force using 24-48 oil per turn for the armour with another 21-33 oil for the air. meaning you used 45-81+ navy & Italians & sundry per turn for possibly up to 100 oil per turn at times. Germany's internal production is around 32 per turn.

Here's one tip on saving fuel. Motorized are almost as good as armour and use 1/4 the oil. Another is "Is this trip necessary?". Never move a unit that costs oil unless the oil burned is worth the destination. The railroads are your friend & you have far more PP to burn than oi.

But ya, I think next time I will try the mot corps...I only had I think two in the game...if I have less armour I'll be less inclined to boogy around with them every turn!

Dead. and I have flipped sides for another go at it, so will see what happens. I figure I'm fairly good with Axis for the first 20-30 turns, but in truth, have only played against the ai beyond that point, which is not much of a struggle. Am looking forward to the new version of the mod and will give that a try once it's out.

Makes one more shameless, worthless post just to get promoted next time.
