Morphing Mongols

Will the figures used for Ilkhanid Mongol army morph into a Timurid army suitable for Tamerlane? As my local wargaming shop is out of Eternal Empire at the moment what extras do I need to buy I assume they can use elephant if so how many? Does the Timurid list have anything interesting in the list or is it a bog standard Central Asian army with a few add on elephants?

Yes, primarily the horse archers. Timurs heavy cavalry (Tarkhans) wore plate mail so the heavy mongol cavalry will not be suitable.

I dont have the Timurid army list yet, but historically they were made up of Heavy Cavalry, Light Horse Archers, Indian/Afghan Foot (mostly archers), Georgian and Armenian Aliies, and some Mongo/Turkish allies, and some artillery as well (and yes, Elephants in their later period).

Other than Timurids (with the addition of a couple of BGs of Tarkhan) I'm trying to establish a list of what else i can morph Mongols into, so far I've got

Mongol Conquest (OoF , EotD)
Timurid (EE)
Later Eastern Nomads (EotD)
Jin (EotD)
Ming (add in chinese cav, foot and rocketeers) (EotD)
Ilkhanid (SaS)

are there any others with the additon of a few BGs the Mongols could morph into.

The intention is to use a variety of Mongol/Eastern nomad figures to get a generic army rather than having every BG a purely Mongol BG.

I've just finished reading the 3rd in Conn Iggulden's trilogy on Genghis Khan. Great read to get a flavour of the Mongols and their (nasty) ways. Gotta love 'em. But when I look at the army lists I wish we played on a 12x8 board...
