Shocktroops breaking through own units

Not sure, if it was asked before...

In the chapter with the general rules for movement is an example for 3 bg's of cataphracts testing not to charge enemy units. (sorry for not giving a page, I have the german book, here it is on page 49)

The cats in the middle fail the test and break through their own skirmishers, which become shaken.

My question:
Did the cats in the middle had to test at all? Didn't the skirmishers screen them?
Do you need a line of sight to have to test and do own troops block it?

The rule you are thinking of says you don't have to test to charge through friends if the enemy beyond are just skirmishers. If the enemy are not, then you do test. Tactically, this means your LF are useful for screening against enemy LF who otherwise would taunt your shock troops to charge, but don't eliminate the requirement to test to charge battle troops.

My main question is, if the cats can see the enemy throught the screen of skirmishers? Can I see through my own troops?

Do you have to see an enemy to charge it at all? And what circumstances block a line of sight?

Your own troops never block line of sight.

The only things that block sight are terrain features and most of them don't do so either.
