Post by babyshark »

Hello all:

Below is the announcement for Field of Glory at Fall In, November 6-8, 2009 in Gettysburg, PA. Note that the 15mm Open on Saturday is set for 900 points; I have decided to experiment with the larger format just to see what happens.

How much is the entry for these games Marc ?

Also, is Nasamw membership still required to take part in FoG ? I checked their website for info about Fall In, and they only seem to care about dbm these days.

OK, I'm in for the Saturday tourney. 900 points should be interesting. Might make shoot and scoot armies a little less
ornery.

Now to choosing:

900 points of superior protected pike hmmmmmmmmmm

900 points of elephants hmmmmmmmmmmmm

900 points of elite, armored Ssw legionaires hmmmmmmmm

Nope! I got it!!!

900 points of BWG's!!!!!

I'll be there. Don't know if I'll do both days there's some enticing gaming in the PEL!

900 pts - That's like the Madaxman tournament - Bring a starter army plus 300 points of your choosing!

Need to decide what list to beef up!

Glad to read that you will be there. Just to be sure: you do not need to bring a starter plus 300, although you certainly can.

I am pretty sure for the Saturday tourney. My first ancients tourney in almost 20 years!

Do we need Nasamw membership is the biggest question.

I can do 15 or 25mm
Clear the battlefield and let me see
All the profit from our victory.

Cool! As to NASAMW membership, yes, you need it. But we will happily sign you up on the day.

As to which scale, there will be more players in the 15mm events, and so more variety of players and armies. If you are willing to float between scales (i.e., bring an army for both 15mm and 25mm) in order to balance the numbers that would very helpful.

It looks like I will be making to Fall-In this year. I plan on playing on Friday and Saturday. Just wanted to double check that the Friday tournament is 600 points and not 650 as it was for the Mini-theme at Historicon. Also what room is the tournament going to be in. I have not been there since 2004 when I only played in the WAB tournament.

Yes, 600 points in both 15mm and 25mm. And do not forget that the Saturday tournament is at 900 points in 15mm.

See you there,

A few quick notes after Fall In!

It was, on the whole, a good event to run. There was an early issue on Friday with the venue having scheduled another group in the space that Fall In! was to have at noon, and that group running over their time, but it all worked out in the end. I was pleased to see a number of new faces, and hope to see all of you again at Cold Wars.

I will note that heavy foot armies won both events, including the Theme that put 600 points on a 6x4 table. Conversely, Mongol Conquest did well, even at 900 points on a 6x4 table. This tells me that FoG is pretty well balanced.

A few other notes, mostly for amusement value. Harvey Harmon earned thrid place on Saturday with a non-morally bankrupt Dominate Roman list (14 BGs at 900 points). Phil Gardocki gets some sort of award for fastest trip up the learning curve, as he went from last place on Friday to sixth on Saturday. Dave Boor beat me on Friday, but I got my shot at revenge on Saturday and pulled off a win: there's balance for you.

I wish I could have been there, Marc, but Fall is just too busy a season for me to get away for a weekend. I do hope to make Cold Wars though. Since that convention has supposedly been increased in length by a day, is there any possibility that we will have an 800 point singles tournament in addition to the Team event that traditionally takes place?

Peter:

The issue on Friday at Cold Wars has always been one of time. We start late because many people use Friday morning as a travel day. The question to answer is: with the addition of Thursday, will the players be there for a 0900 start on Friday morning?

Talk to me, people.
