Field fortifications

Just a quick one here. Do field fortifications have to be in even numbers?

Strictly speaking they aren't a battle group so I'm thinking no but I can't find anything either way on the subject.

What do you say?

Have as many as you want. They are not a BG.

Plus you may want to cover the front of a battle group which is three wide (or front and side of a 2, 4 or 6 base wide) or any other combination. I keep thinking of trying Field Fortifications to deploy artillery 15 MU in. A pair of forts with 4 base of FF in 2 pairs at right angles with the apex facing the enemy so the field of fire can be towards the centre or flank depending on how the enemy depoly (placing the artillery last of course).

Haven't tried it yet but may well give it a go some time.
